More anatomical studies, yay!

Like I've already said, drawing bones and muscles is one of the things that I love the most!
So, here's for you some more studies of bones and joints:

Digital painting: starting out!

As I mentioned on my previous post, I am trying to learn how to do digital paintings, using Photoshop, or Mypaint (or even Tegaki).

I have to say that it has been quite difficult for me to start "painting" using my tabet, because I can't really paint traditionally. Yes, I can put some colors on a canvas, but that's it. (Actually, I'm going to ask my grandfather to teach me how to paint during the summer!)

Anyway, I still keep practicing almost everyday, and there are some results.
This one is what came from my daily practice session:

As you can see, the anatomy is far from being perfect, and the nose is probably too big for him.
I really like how this came out, though. I love the colors and how the shadows define his face.

Another thing: tutorials are very very useful. I'll now post here one of the tutorials I have followed to starting painting. Its creator is ~ilikeyoursensitivity on DeviantART. I suggest you to watch her gallery, 'cause her paintings are just awesome.

Tegaki: show your talent!

I discovered, thanks to Tumblr, a wonderful site - or better, a wonderful blogging platform, named Tegaki.
"What, another blogging platform?"
Well, the point about Tegaki is that every post has to be completely handwritten, by using a mouse or a tablet.
So, it is an extremely good place for artists allo over the world to express themselves! In fact, you don't need to have any digital painting software to start doing art ... You have to draw your entries directly from the site.

The flash application that allows you to draw on Tegaki is simple: no levels, a lot of colors, an opacity and size option.
And that's why I love it: you don't need any Photoshop tool to show your talent.

It is also very good for me, because thanks to Tegaki I'm praticing and learning digital painting, and I'm trying to submit at least a sketch everyday.

Here's my entry for today:

Brace yourselves, Summer is coming.

This school year is almost over (another week to go!), and summer is almost here.
This year, I want to focus more on the study of anatomy while I am free from school works. I think that anatomy is really important to learn, and it's also fun to draw.
So, here for you, my first study of a skull!

I've made it with a reference picture, and I think it came out pretty good!

Some facts.

Just to start this blog, here there are some facts about my experience about art:

  • I am self-taught. I did not attend any art school, and the school I'm in at the moment is a secondary school focused on scientific subjects.
  • The only anatomy book I own is "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth", by Andrew Loomis.
  • I love drawing comics, and that's why I want to take an art school after graduating.
  • I mostly draw and sketch traditionally, but I also like to experiment with digital art, although I'm not very good at it.
Well, that's all. I hope you'll like this blog!
